HSW has received the first offset order from the WISŁA program, implements many strategic orders for the production of equipment for the Polish Armed Forces and continues investments related to the modernization of the machine park
At the end of October 2018 Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. has received from Raytheon Company an order for the preparation of a plan of tasks resulting from the implementation of the agreement concluded between the governments of Poland and the United States as part of the program for the development of the middle-range air defense system WISŁA.
The order is the first one addressed by Raytheon to the Polish company under the WISŁA program and includes the development of the initial Program Management Plan as well as the Maturity Plan identifying the main risks of its implementation.The order is the result of intensive work at HSW S.A. related to the verification of production capacities, understanding the requirements of American legislation and preparing foundations for a new model for the development and implementation of projects in the field of defense with the use of American knowledge and experience in this area.
Huta Stalowa Wola will play an important role in the program of production of the medium-range air defense system WISŁA. The factory will participate in the implementation of the system and will be responsible for the implementation of rocket launchers based on the technology acquired from a foreign contractor. HSW S.A. has also started activities related to the construction of a production and service center for the implementation of the WISŁA project.
The next phase of the REGINA program also begins in HSW. The company has completed serial production of batteries of the I self-propelled howitzers KRAB. For the last two years, since the signing of the Ministry of Defense’s contract for the supply of four DMOs (division fire modules) based on the KRAB howitzer in 2016, it has been preparing to start mass production of this modern weaponry. HSW has not only implemented the acquired production technologies, but also underwent a deep process of modernization of infrastructure and production processes. The construction of a modern production hall, among others, was the key stage, thanks to which the production profile changes and the specialization in the construction of modern HSW chassis will be a unique competence of the plant.
Changes in production technology are accompanied by a change in the management system and building a new business model. The effect of continuing the process of improving the company’s efficiency is the achieved financial stability, the implementation of contracts in accordance with the delivery schedules also significantly affects the positive financial results. In the current year for 9 months the company shows a net profit of over 25 million PLN.
Huta Stalowa Wola implementing the latest technology currently available in the world of automatic welding of bodies and chassis for combat vehicles is among the leading manufacturers of armored vehicles in the scope of executive capabilities of such structures. The company completes the assembly of advanced automatic welding lines. Implementation of a universal robotic station for welding tower systems of such products like Krab, Rak, tower system, chassis systems of ,among others, a 120 mm self-propelled mortar on a tracked chassis, command vehicles, BWP is a big progress in the welding specialty of the entire Polish defense industry.
Huta Stalowa Wola not only invests in infrastructure and modern technological processes. It also conducts recruitment processes for new employees. Investments made in recent months, a full portfolio of orders and implemented organizational changes put Huta Stalowa Wola among the leaders of armaments production.
