Tactical Multi-Purpose Vehicle 4×4 WARAN – Command Vehicle

The presented vehicle is a medium-class wheeled armored personnel carrier with a wide range of applications. The design and technical parameters of the 4×4 vehicle meet the requirements of all STANAG standards applicable to this type of equipment. At the same time, the vehicle complies with applicable road traffic regulations and can drive on public roads for crisis management purposes in the entire spectrum of activities of uniformed services.

The basis of the structure is a central skeleton pipe with a diameter of approx. Ø40 cm. It consists of modules between which, in spherical steel housings, gears are mounted, transferring the force from the drive shafts located inside the pipe to the oscillating shafts.
(the design does not require the transfer of torque through Cardan joints, only through gear transmissions). This solution means that gears and shafts are not exposed to damage caused by obstacles encountered while driving off-road. Thanks to the use of independent suspension, adjustable ground clearance, central wheel inflation system and Run Flat inserts, the ability to overcome difficult-to-reach terrain and in situations where there is a risk of fire makes the vehicle one of the best vehicles of this class in the world. The vehicle can be equipped with an air- or liquid-cooled drive unit with a power of over 400 HP, with an automatic transmission. The speed of travel on paved roads in the presented version is 110 km/h. The range on a full filling unit is over 650 km. Introduced into operation of the Polish Armed Forces in 2023 as the “GLADIUS” Unmanned Search and Strike System in the FURGON and PICK UP versions.

The spacious cabin can accommodate a crew of 2+6 people (Vangon version), along with individual equipment.
In terms of armament, it can be equipped with a turntable with e.g. 7.62 mm UKM 2000 or with a Remotely Controlled Weapons Module with optoelectronic recognition devices and with a 7.62 mm UKM 2000 or 12.7 mm Bm wkm or an MK19 automatic grenade launcher. The vehicle can be equipped with internal and external VHF and HF communication systems with cryptographic devices. Moreover, in order to ensure the safety of soldiers (officers), it can be additionally equipped with systems: fire protection, filter ventilation and protection against laser radiation.

WARAN can be the basis for many specialized versions in various formations as a vehicle: protection of border areas, sappers, rescue and fire-fighting, command and communication, removal of hazardous materials, decontamination, support in combating natural disasters, mitigating the effects of terrorist attacks. The roof structure allows for the installation of additional equipment, e.g. water fire extinguishing equipment.

The vehicle is adapted to operate in demanding climatic conditions. Thanks to the use of filtering, it provides protection against the effects of weapons of mass destruction.
