On 30th of October current year, on the premises of the military unit in Szczecin, an official reception of the second company fire module of a self-propelled mortar 120mm ‘Rak’ on a wheeled chassis took place. It is a continuation of a series of artillery equipment deliveries for the Polish Armed Forces based on the contract between the Armaments Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defence and Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. (leader) and Rosomak S.A.
The ceremony started with the acceptance of the report on the readiness of subdivisions by the Commander of the 12th Szczecin Mechanized Division General of the Division Rajmund T. Andrzejczak from the Commander of the ceremony Major Michał Kosturbiec. The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the National Defense Committee Michał Jach, Commander of the 12th Mechanized Brigade Colonel Dipl. Piotr Trytek, commanding officers and soldiers of the ‘Błękitna’ Brigade (‘Blue’ Brigade).
The symbolism of this event is significant because the introduction of modern and highly mobile mortars ‘Rak’ on the equipment of the ‘Błękitna’ Brigade unambiguously raises its combat potential. “This is the first such construction in the world, with extraordinary capabilities,” said President Jach.
The contract between the Armaments Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defence and consortium of companies Huta Stalowa Wola S.A. and Rosomak S.A. has been signed in April 2016 in the presence of Prime Minister Beata Szydło in Huta Stalowa Wola. The value of the contract is approximately one billion PLN and the subject of the order includes the delivery of eight company fire modules codenamed ‘Rak’ for the Polish Armed Forces. The reception of the elements of the second company fire module of a self-propelled mortar ‘Rak’ on a wheeled chassis is the continuation of the series of the equipment deliveries ordered by the Armaments Inspectorate of the Ministry Of National Defence. On the 30th of June 2017 Huta Stalowa Wola has delivered to the 17th Wielkopolska Mechanized Brigade the elements of the company fire module of a self-propelled mortar 120mm ‘Rak’ on a wheeled chassis. It is a continuation of the series of artillery equipment deliveries for the Armed Forces.
